For months now, Ford has been posting little snippets of parts of the new 2011 Ford Explorer. It looks like this is quite the makeover! The Explorer will no longer be on a truck frame. The parts that you can see look very nice and what they have written about it (like the HUGE increase in fuel mileage) would indicate a mass of improvements.
I have always liked the Explorer because it is very practical and versatile. It is safe, hauls boats, trailers, people, makes trips to the ski resorts etc. It has a good solid ride and is quiet.
Ford says the new Explorer will be all of this and much more. They plan to unveil it in Manhattan on Monday with Ford CEO Alan Mulally and Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe (says he).
The Explorer will be lighter, more fuel efficient and more of a crossover. It has many new safety features. The 2011 Explorer will feature highlights such as inflatable rear seatbelts, terrain management system, curve control, collision warning with brake support and many more electronic nannies that will help save your bacon.
